About the Company
We are pleased to be supporting our client, a full-service, mid-size firm in downtown Toronto in their search for a Civil Litigation Law Clerk. This opportunity offers the incoming law clerk an incredible opportunity to grow their skills while also working alongside some of the city's top litigators.

About the Role
The successful incumbent will:
  • Review, summarize, and analyze initiating documents and file materials
  • Manage productions - monitoring incoming, pursuing outstanding requests
  • Prepare for Examinations for Discovery (managing next steps, arranging dates, serving Notices, preparing electronic productions, and managing undertakings)
  • Arranging independent medical examinations and preparing all related documentation
  • Arranging surveillance and other investigations and preparing all related documentation, liaising with investigators and reporting to client and counsel
  • Arranging mediations and preparing all related documentation, including draft mediation brief
  • Arranging trial documents, including trial briefs
  • Preparation and substantive drafting of correspondence and legal documents (Pleadings, Motion Records, Affidavit of Documents, Affidavits, Pre-Trial / mediation briefs, Releases, Orders, Minutes of Settlement, etc.)
  • Filing all appropriate documents in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction on behalf of counsel
  • Reviewing and triaging incoming legal documentation
  • Ensure proper storage of all documents in the DMS; named and classified in accordance with Firm guidelines
  • Running accounts as required
  • Other tasks as assigned.
The Offer

What You Bring
As the ideal candidate, you possess 4+ years' experience supporting a civil and/or commercial litigation practice, gained in a law firm environment. You have successfully completed a law clerk or legal administration certification from an accredited institution or possess equivalent experience. You have a thorough understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and experience and understanding of various levels of Courts.
