Supporting student achievement is the goal of approximately 1,750 teaching and support staff who share their passion for teaching and learning.The district covers a geographic area of 7,220 square kilometres. The region connects the outdoors with small cities, quaint villages and rolling rural landscapes.We acknowledge and honour the land on which we reside and occupy as part of the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe people.Job OverviewReporting directly to the Board Lead Psychologist, the Speech-Language Pathologist performs related duties by consulting with school staff, parents, and outside agencies about students with communication difficulties.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, recommend, support, and provide some direct programming to meet the needs of students with communication delay/disorder.Monitor student progress to determine ongoing appropriateness of speech-language interventions.Provide assessment, discuss results and findings and provide recommendations in a written report to support programming and intervention.Make recommendations to principals regarding school-level approaches and practices for speech and language needs.Make recommendations to the Superintendent of Student Services for system approaches and needs for speech and language needs.QualificationsMinimum post-secondary education completion of a Master’s in Speech Language, or equivalent and registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) in good standingMinimum of six (6) years of professional experienceDemonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong client and quality service focusExperience working in a multi-disciplinary setting and demonstrated experience with intervention strategies appropriate for youth with a variety of communicative disordersEvidence of strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skillsSatisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background check.Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is committed to a qualified workforce that is representative of the diversity of the people in Ontario and across the communities we serve.We welcome applicants from candidates with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including but not limited to:First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples;Members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour, religion or spiritual beliefs, or place of origin;Persons with visible or invisible (physical or mental) disabilities; orPersons of marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.We are committed to providing barrier-free and accessible employment practices in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarioans with Disabilities Act (AODA). #J-18808-Ljbffr
