OverviewVancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Social Worker to join the team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC. The salary range for this position is CAD $42.27/Hr. - CAD $52.81/Hr.ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical and consultative social work services to clients and families, focusing on how the clients' relationships are affected by their environment.Perform duties including: conducting social and psychosocial assessments, providing individual, family and group counselling services, maintaining client records, attending interdisciplinary clinical/case conferences, and providing Long-Term Care assessments.Identify applicable community resources for clients and contribute to the effectiveness and development of community resources.About SecheltSechelt is located on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation and is approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, followed by a 25-minute drive along Highway 101, known as the Sunshine Coast Highway. This seaside community is known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, with parks, eateries, locally owned shops, galleries, and a golf course.About Sechelt HospitalSechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, BC, serving over 30,000 residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. The hospital provides a full range of services including Emergency care, Renal program (community dialysis units), Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.Education & ExperienceMaster of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work and one (1) year of post-Baccalaureate experience in a health care setting or one (1) year in a practicum in a related setting.Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBroad knowledge of systems thinking as it relates to the social work process.Broad knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in healthcare.Broad knowledge of research methodology.Broad knowledge of counselling skills and clinical practice models.Broad knowledge of family and change therapy.Broad knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the client.Ability to apply systems theory to practice in social work assessment and intervention.Ability to conduct social and psychosocial assessments.Strong listening and information-seeking skills to promote communication within an interdisciplinary setting.Ability to understand and influence group and inter-group processes, decision making and problem solving.Ability to establish rapport with clients and families to explore issues beyond initial concerns.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, families, team members, and community agency personnel.Adaptability to new or unexpected events and to resolve conflicts; ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position; skilled in the use of equipment and treatment techniques; basic computer literacy.The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change in alignment with operational requirements and the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
