Civil Structural Engineer

Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for an experienced professional with a background in the natural resource sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering and design of road, bridge, infrastructure, industrial/commercial projects, as well as field services projects in both public and private sectors. Experience with concrete, steel and wood design, bridge inspections and evaluations, contract document preparation, technical specifications, and capital cost estimating will be considered an asset. A Day in the Life Create proposals and fee estimates Prepare engineering designs and related documents for various projects Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations Assist with scoping, budgeting, designing, and managing civil and structural projects (e.g., bridge design, roads, infrastructure, transmission lines, pipelines, mining, land development, field services) Perform and supervise field inspections and assessments Prepare technical memorandums, reports and studies Prepare design drawings and specifications Provide technical guidance to EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications Collaborate with and supervise structural team (engineers, designers, project coordinators) to develop engineering design and related documents Manage client relations at both a technical and commercial level to achieve client satisfaction and leverage further opportunities What You’ll Bring to the Team Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering and registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC 5–10 years of relevant experience in the natural resource sector with experience in road, bridge and access infrastructure Proven experience and demonstrated understanding of delivering projects on schedule, on budget, in scope and at the required quality while achieving client satisfaction Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) Proven ability to interact with clients and collaborate with team members in a multi‑disciplined environment Technical competence and strong attention to detail Registered as a Professional Forester (RPF) in the province of BC (asset) Experience with RoadEng and Civil 3D (asset) Experience performing construction layout reviews or surveys (asset) Experience reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs (asset) Experience in the design of concrete, steel and timber structures (asset) Experience working in Northern BC or remote environments (asset) Experience with material testing (soils and concrete) (asset) About Terrace, BC Terrace is made to live, work, and play in.
