Base pay range CA$75,000.00/yr - CA$95,000.00/yr Harbinger has partnered with one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Niagara Region, dedicated to providing life-changing support, resources, and housing services to individuals and families most in need. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their leadership team and ensure effective financial stewardship across all programs and services. Position Summary The Finance Manager is responsible for managing, planning, controlling, and organizing all financial operations for the organization. Acting as the second-in-command to the Finance Director, this role provides leadership to the finance team and ensures continuity of financial management across all departments. The Finance Manager oversees day-to-day financial activities, ensures compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements, and provides accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making. This role is key in maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the organization’s mission through sound financial governance. 6 month contract to start. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Oversight Oversee full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, GL, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations, and month-end close. Ensure accurate financial records, internal controls, and compliance with relevant legislation and non-profit reporting requirements. Maintain cash flow forecasting, budgeting processes, and financial modeling to support operational needs. Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership and the Board. Provide variance analysis, forecasts, and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision‑making. Ensure timely submission of financial reports for government agencies, funders, and auditors. Budgeting & Funding Compliance Lead annual budgeting cycles and coordinate multi-program budget development. Monitor program expenditures to ensure alignment with funding agreements and restrictions. Support grant management, reporting, and compliance for multiple funding streams. Supervise and mentor finance staff; support training, development, and performance management. Act as backup for the Finance Director in their absence, ensuring continuity of financial leadership. Work closely with program managers, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to support financial transparency and organizational goals. Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors. Maintain effective risk management practices and support policy development. Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and recommend enhancements as needed. Qualifications Post‑secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Admin; CPA designation (or working toward CPA) preferred. 5+ years of progressive financial experience, ideally within the non‑profit or social services sector. Strong knowledge of fund accounting, government funding, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and team supervision. Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Excel; familiarity with non‑profit systems is an asset. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage competing deadlines in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
