We are looking for a regional Category Analyst – Process Chemicals for our North American procurement organization based in Montreal, Qc. The Category analyst will support the Category Manager – Process Consumables & Chemicals in the development of category strategies and to execute the plan outlined in the strategy. The objective of this key role is to implement according to Fact Base Development, Strategy Development and approval, Implementation of strategy including regular reviews, updates and adjustments, contract management and supplier relationship requirements. This is a great opportunity for a Procurement professional to develop and execute regional sourcing projects which contribute to the delivery of commercially favourable contracts and deliver optimal value to the Rio Tinto Business Unit. Reporting to the Manager, Process Chemicals and Rail, and working in a collaborative community, a challenging and exciting environment, you will: Responsibilities Be able to develop a high level of trust and work in a matrix environment: develop strong relationship with internal stakeholders to better support the business requirements Support the category specialist with data‑driven requests (reports), troubleshooting supplier concerns, bidding events, updating price agreements Manage categories following the Rio Tinto category management cycle, under the supervision of the category specialist Work with a team to address process improvements (internal & external). Ensure to follow the requirements outlined in Rio Tinto Procurement and Group Policies, Standards and Guidelines Support the category strategy development and identify new opportunities for savings and improvements on total cost of ownership What you’ll bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business, Finance, Engineering, or an equivalent field, along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement and supply‑chain management Multitasking, self‑starter and team player with a positive attitude Experience with the SAP system, Microsoft Office and Ariba Previous experience with multi‑national companies in Mining, Manufacturing, Chemicals or Automotive industries Strong communication, analytical thinking, operations and data analysis skills An ability to work unsupervised and be a self‑starter Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
