Our technical expertise encompasses transportation, land use planning, civil engineering, municipal, landscape architecture, buildings, environmental management, water, structural, community engagement, geomatics, construction services and 3D visualization. Just the right size, ISL delivers complex projects while being small enough to maintain strong, cohesive project teams and personal client attention and service.
ISL's Electrical Team is part of the larger Water Team which is made up of 25 individuals who have close working relationships centered around water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. We have expertise in water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations and reservoirs, linear infrastructure for collection and distribution and of course water system planning.

Your cover letter must demonstrate:
- Your approach to design and highlight past experiences
- Your approach to teamwork and coordination with other engineering disciplines
- Degree or diploma program in controls and instrumentation engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
- 5 plus progressively responsible experience in the preparation of detailed controls and instrumentation systems design in water / wastewater related Consulting industry
- P.Eng. or E.I.T. designation registration with APEGA (or eligibility to register)
- Experience in application of electrical codes and standards such as ISA, PIP etc.
- Ability to work in environment with conflicting deadlines and prioritize deliveries
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Strong familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Bluebeam (PDF) as well as design collaboration tools such as BIM and Autodesk Construction Cloud or related
- Power systems design experience
- PLC Programming and Systems Integration
- Experience with 3D, building information management (BIM) design platforms, Revit and Autodesk Plant 3D
Working on small but impactful projects you will be responsible for:
- Working closely with the Electrical Lead to execute design engineering projects
- Managing workloads and schedules to provide timely deliverables to project PM and larger design team
- Writing relevant technical design reports and construction specifications
- Providing engineering support during construction and commissioning
- Preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and assistance in preparing response to RFP's
- Preparation of design documents such memoranda and reports
- Use of ISL's Quality Management Plan for checking work and ensuring that quality deliverables are being produced
- Following established procedures for production of drawings and documents
- Preparation of procurement documents including specifications and cost estimates
- Coordination of tendering processes, supporting the PM, and answering questions from contractors during tender periods
