p>We are seeking a full-time Senior Electronics Engineer with hands-on experience in design and product architecture who is a strong team leader thriving in a creative, dynamic environment working with start-ups and corporations to bring new ideas and products to market.Design 1st is Canada’s largest full-service multi-market hardware product development company. Based in Ottawa, we were founded in 1996 and work on over 75+ hardware product projects each year for clients in Canada, USA and expanding to clients in Asia and Europe.Our Ottawa team of 30+ is made up of industrial designers, mechanical engineers, embedded software, firmware, electronics engineers and manufacturing support staff. Check out our website for examples of our work: Design 1st.You will have the opportunity to see dozens of new hardware projects move from idea, through development and into manufacturing each year. p>Working together with our full services product development team, you will be expected to get your hands dirty on client projects by developing a wide variety of electronic product designs, working with a team to architect new products, define microcontroller solutions and wireless modular systems, solve challenging and novel technical issues, oversee the design and debug of electronic assemblies including from simple IoT devices to complex network enabled embedded systems.You will work with a team during product prototyping, validating the designs then creating manufacturing test plans and readying the design for market working with a large network of contract manufacturers in North America and overseas.We’re also looking for someone who embraces multiple forms of leadership including technical expertise, staff mentoring and client interaction.As a key member of our electronics engineering team, you will be directly involved in early stage customer engagement and regularly exposed to business and marketplace technology opportunities and trends.On the broader Design 1st team, you may be called to provide a technical perspective in early conversations with prospective clients. Each client comes with a variety of budgets and different levels of understanding of the product development process. You will work closely with our senior team to grow your knowledge in full product development, design processes and user-centered design that provide clients with solutions that meet their customer and business needs.Fill a key role in the development of electronics products working closely with our multi-disciplinary development team.Lead the design of digital electronics and communication products including product architecture definition, detailed design and lab bench debug and test protocols.Draw on your resourcefulness and creativity to solve unique technical problems across a wide range of industry applications and consumer product segments.Work directly with customers to understand their needs and successfully lead product development while balancing risk, cost, and timing.Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.At least 10 years of broad technical experience in electronics hardware product development for a diversity of products and applications.Familiarity with network communications protocol and the hardware implementations such as Ethernet, Wifi, Bluetooth etc.Ability to specify FPGA based digital functions with suitable design languages or design capture tools is desired.Expertise with analog circuit design including precision data acquisition and signal processing front-end subsystem is desired.Experience with power budgets and BoM cost analysis leveraging your experience with key players in the electronics component supply chain.You have deep hands-on expertise with E-CAD tools for schematic capture and capable of providing expert guidance for the layout of 6+ layer PCBs.If you enjoy working with new technology and being challenged to find solutions to create new product categories and have the requisite skills, send us your resume to apply for this key senior role at Design 1st.Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Dental care Disability insurance Flexible schedule On-site parking Monday to Friday
