(GDI) is a Montréal-based, public company of integrated omni-channel brands, designing and distributing accessible, trend-forward fashion for women since 1975.Our mission of "Empowering YOU to be YOU, one outfit at a time" is brought to life through the GARAGE and DYNAMITE banners and represents the consumer-centric core of GDI's long-standing success as a leading retailer in North America.Today, GDI operates nearly 300 stores across Canada and the United States, as well as shoppable brand experiences at Garageclothing.com and Dynamiteclothing.com.Job SummaryThe Designer works under the direction of the Divisional Design Manager, and in partnership with the Product Manager, delivers a focused and inspiring assortment each season for the assigned product line.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate vision and emerging trends into the assigned product lines based on concept direction;Maximize sales and gross profits, minimize shuffles and unplanned markdowns (with Product Manager);Create and coordinate multiple pieces that aim to satisfy our clientele and corresponds to our brand image;Work with technical designers, patternmakers, and fit technicians to ensure our clothing corresponds to our specifics;Build a relationship with the Buying team that fosters development of innovative, relevant and fashion-forward designs;Build a relationship with the Production team that takes into consideration manufacturing limitations, yet pushes our expectations of quality, lead time and price value;Research and develop new fabrics, washes, trims and finishes that are within our cost constraints and elevate the brandAdhere to design calendar;Shop international and domestic market for seasonal research.QualificationsDEC or Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design;Minimum 7 years experience design experience;Detailed oriented, self-motivated;Good Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word) skills;Strong color sense;Excellent knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop;Bilingual (English and French);Sound judgement and a good understanding of trends and the fashion apparel industry.What We OfferA comprehensive compensation package that includes performance-driven bonuses;A group retirement savings program with employer matching;Flexible group insurance with personalized coverage that meets your needs;An employee discount at Garage and Dynamite; Exclusive private sample sales;A flexible vacation policy;And moreGDI has been repeatedly voted one of Montréal’s Top Employers and one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.No day will be like the last—we aim to be better today than we were yesterday.
