Freelance Interpreter (English/Tigrigna)Join MCIS Language Solutions as a freelance interpreter to provide essential spoken interpretation services in various community settings.As a freelance interpreter, you will facilitate clear and accurate communication between English and Tigrigna speakers, ensuring individuals with limited language proficiency have access to vital services.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpretation: Provide accurate, clear, and professional interpretation between English and Tigrigna in community settings.Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural awareness when working with diverse communities.Reading and Oral Translation: Read and orally translate written materials as needed.Facilitating Access to Services: Support vulnerable populations by breaking down linguistic barriers in crucial interactions.Travel: Travel to assignment locations as required.Remote Assignments: Handle over-the-phone or video interpretation assignments.Professionalism and Confidentiality: Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while interpreting sensitive information.RequirementsFluency in English and Tigrigna (both written and spoken) is required.Reading Proficiency: Strong ability to read and interpret written documents accurately.Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and a commitment to service.Transportation: Ability to travel to different locations as needed.Legal Eligibility: Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Training And SupportTraining: MCIS provides a free online training module designed to prepare you for assignments.Experienced Interpreters: We welcome applications from experienced interpreters who have been tested and certified in community interpreting.MCIS Language Solutions offers a pay range of CA$20.00/hr - CA$25.00/hr.
