We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in our Toronto office: CLAIMS COUNSEL / CLAIMS HANDLER, SPECIALTY INSURANCE - TORONTO The Claims Counsel / Claims Handler, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for day to day handling of claims within the Specialty Insurance and Casualty departments. Responsibilities include: Drafting coverage letters and other documents. Communicating with insureds, counsel, brokers, independent adjusters and claimants. Managing litigation and negotiating settlements. Authorizing payments as required. Acting as a resource for various business units. A passionate, participative, service-oriented attitude Qualifications LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized university (preferred but not required). 2-3+ years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance law and/or experience in claims handling. Experience and/or interest in handling Property & Casualty claims an asset. French language skills an asset.
