Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services I (cleaner/housekeeper) located at the University of Alberta Hospital. This regular part‑time position provides training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and common staff/public areas in accordance with AHS standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of days, evenings, nights and weekends. Position Information Classification: Environmental I | Union: AUPE GSS | Unit and Program: Linen & Environmental Services | Primary Location: U of A Hospital | FTE: 0.40 | Hours per Shift: 7.75 | Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends | Minimum Salary: $18.36 | Maximum Salary: $20.02 Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non‑clinical healthcare environments. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and restock supplies in bathroom facilities. Strip linens and remake beds. Replenish cleaning supplies and linens. Identify and report potential hazards to the Working Leader. Clean and disinfect medical equipment and handle materials safely. Required Qualifications Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements during your shift. Physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 22 lbs of force. Additional Required Qualifications Ability to operate a smartphone device. Basic computer knowledge to access email. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and following written and oral directions in English. Dependable, thorough, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work with chemical cleaners. Demonstrated commitment to safety and hygiene in a healthcare setting. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of previous experience performing environmental cleaning duties in a hospital or institution. Previous knowledge and application of WHMIS. Previous Ergonomics and Workplace Health and Safety courses. Orientation and Training All new employees will attend a 4‑day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1‑day AHS Orientation to enable them to perform their duties safely. #J-18808-Ljbffr
