Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Proposals—Buildings East, the Technical Writer will support the Buildings Division’s proposal team by working with subject matter experts to gain a deep understanding of approaches, products, and services to write simplified, engaging content. The ideal candidate will have experience working within the construction industry and/or knowledge of construction activities, terminologies, and delivery models.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and write informative and engaging content on various construction-related topics, such as project management, safety, materials, equipment, and regulations.
  • Produce high-quality, simplified written content that meets the needs of the target audience, including proposals, print and digital brochures, and case studies.
  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and style.
  • Provide writing guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Work with proposal lead to draft tailored content.
  • Manage technical content.
  • Develop and maintain a content repository.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in journalism, marketing, communications, or construction (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of experience in writing for the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Excellent research skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit own work.
  • Experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is an asset.
