Senior Developer- Cloud Native

The person will be responsible for designing and developing highly scalable cloud-native applications using microservices architecture.Responsibilities:Perform product development in accordance with Merge’s methodology and practices.Perform software module requirement analysis, design, and test design as assigned.Prepare software module specifications, designs, test descriptions and estimates as assigned.Implement software modules and unit tests as assigned and conduct appropriate module testing.Conduct appropriate verification and validation activities as assigned.Detect, report, investigate, and fix product defects as appropriate.Assist with escalated customer support investigations.Participate in the review of product engineering artifacts.Design, develop, and recommend next generation platforms for cloud and on-premise deployments, ensuring scalability and reliability.Develop deployment systems for a variety of interdependent applications running on Kubernetes, with a focus on scalability and performance.Do POCs and prepare technical reports as required.Mentor team members and peer review product artifacts.Engage actively in design and code reviews of work items completed by the team.Interface with customer(s) and Merge staff to gather product requirements, present technical aspects of the product, and understand problems with the product.Work effectively in collaboration with other members of the department, or with managers and staff across the organization with whom tasks must be completed.Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.Core Competencies:Ability to work within an Agile development model.Ability to learn parts of a large, complex system.Ability to design and implement microservices-based architectures.Strong understanding of cloud-native development and deployment practices.Ability to work effectively in collaboration with other members of the department, or with managers and staff across the organization with whom tasks must be completed.Ability to pursue a program of self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars, and participation in continuing education.Ability to identify and communicate possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers.Assesses circumstances & uses sophisticated analytical and problem solve techniques to identify root cause.Resolves & assesses a wide range of issues in creative ways & suggests variations in approach.Works independently and submits work for review at critical points.Enhances relationships and networks outside of department / subject matter area.Adapts to differing audiences & often advises on complex matters.Reviews work of others.Technical Skills:Languages & Frameworks: Java/Quarkus/Springboot, Python, Golang, JavaScript and CSS.Container platforms: Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, OpenShiftBroad exposure to the CNCF project ecosystemCloud experience: Azure, AWS, GCP, or otherGen AI tools: Github CopilotExperience with microservices frameworks and interaction patternsDatabase: Relational, No-SQL (CosmosDB)REST services & APIs, HTTP methodsDevelopment Environments: Git, VS Code, EclipseExperience in DICOM and HL7Experience in Web application development/deployment Platforms [Apache, Tomcat, etc.]Familiarity with Microsoft Office or other office automation/productivity software tools;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Qualifications Required:Education Requirements: An undergraduate or college degree or better in computer science or equivalent discipline or equivalent level of industry related experienceExperience: 5+ years of related experience in software development, with a focus on cloud-native applications and microservices architecture.
