The incumbent serves meals to staff and visitors, performs cashier duties, and follows proper sanitation safety guidelines, in accordance with departmental and government policies. Responsibilities Execute assigned tasks related to meal preparation, serving, and distribution. Serve meals to staff and visitors while maintaining proper sanitation. Perform cashier duties as required. Follow proper sanitation safety guidelines and department policies. Exercise initiative and independent judgment in work prioritization and handling unusual matters. Experience Six (6) months previous experience working in food handling and/or health care food services environment. Education Minimum Grade 10 education. Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/email and online training. Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered. Certification / Licensure / Registration Completion of a Dietary Aide certificate. Current Food Handler Training certificate level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course, or willingness to acquire a certificate within the first six (6) months of employment. Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of all therapeutic and texture modified diets. Knowledge of sanitary food handling. If the site uses an Electronic Menu Management System, knowledge of EMMIS required. Demonstrated competency in cash management. Respect and promote a culturally diverse population. Proficiency of both official languages essential for bilingual positions. Ability to respect confidentiality in paper and electronic formats. Good work and attendance record. Valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all‑purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance at least $1,000,000.00. Physical Requirements Lift items up to 1–5 kg (2.2–11 lbs.) constantly; 6–11 kg (13.2–24 lbs.) occasionally; 23 kg (50 lbs.) seldomly. Meet physical and mental demands of the job. Work evenings and weekends as outlined in rotations. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
