The Adult Emergency Department receives approximately 195,000 new patients each year and has a robust academic, clinical, and research ethos. We have full‑time posts available; part‑time will be considered, with salary on a pro‑rata basis. Job Opportunity We are seeking an accredited Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our established team and provide senior care and leadership within the department. The successful applicant will have a high clinical profile and the drive and initiative to sustain the highest standards of emergency medical care, contributing to our 24/7 consultant presence. Background The West of Scotland Major Trauma Network is a collaboration of six NHS Boards and the Scottish Ambulance Service, aiming to provide comprehensive trauma care. Our department, part of this network, offers the opportunity to participate in a national trauma care initiative and to contribute to a growing, high‑impact teaching and training environment. Responsibilities Provide senior clinical care and leadership in the Adult Emergency Department. Lead clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Champion training and development for junior staff and trainees. Participate in the West of Scotland Major Trauma Network activities and collaboration. Qualifications Full GMC Registration and a license to practice. FRCEM (or equivalent) and eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. UK‑trained candidates: certified higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry. Non‑UK candidates: equivalent training and qualifications. Job Details The role is fully negotiated with the Clinical Director and includes 10 Professional Activity (PA) allocations: 8 PA in Direct Clinical Care and 2 PA in Supporting Professional Activities such as CPD, audit, appraisal, revalidation, and job planning. SPA time and objectives will be agreed and reviewed with the successful applicant.
