Hydrotechnical Engineer, Hydro & Dams WSP Canada invites you to join our National Hydraulic Team in Vancouver. This position sits within the Hydro & Dams market sector of the Power Division, supporting hydroelectric and dam projects—development, rehabilitation, and dam safety. Overview We provide a world‑class environment for professionals in renewable energy, offering conceptual designs, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, performance monitoring, and decommissioning services. Responsibilities Work on hydrotechnical engineering projects such as dam safety review, hydropower, flood mapping, bank stabilization, fish ladder, ice, and bridge hydraulic studies. Conduct hydrological analyses (PMF study, flood frequency analysis, hydrological modelling). Perform hydraulic and hydrological modelling using HEC‑RAS, Telemac, Flow 3D, HEC‑HMS, HYFRAN, RAVEN, etc. Plan and participate in bathymetric surveys. Design plans, specifications, and reports for river engineering, dams, and hydroelectric projects. Coordinate with regulatory authorities and utilities. Contribute to proposals and business development efforts. Assist project managers in planning, control, and technical coordination. Supervise engineering resources, including technicians and engineers. Ensure quality assurance of deliverables. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a hydrotechnical/river engineering background or equivalent education. Engineer member of a provincial professional order in Canada. Six (6) or more years of relevant experience. Design experience with hydraulic structures (dams, weirs, bank protection). Proactive, resourceful, autonomous, and detail‑oriented. Team‑player with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Experience in hydrological and hydrotechnical studies. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset. Salary range (British Columbia): $96,200–$132,200. Health and Safety is a core value of WSP.
