Make an impact with our Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) team as a Senior Accountant. As a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate on a range of technical projects, such as new accounting standard implementation, acquisition accounting, revenue recognition, complex transaction accounting, and initial public offering (IPO) readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical accounting advisory services, including understanding and addressing the implications of significant transactions, new accounting standards, and frameworks on financial reporting mandates and business objectives.
  • Support clients in their go-public journey, including developing go-public strategies, establishing milestones and deliverables, and preparing financial information for regulatory compliance.
  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare documentation for clients, and identify accounting issues within contracts and agreements.
  • Apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE).
  • Collaborate with MNP’s Corporate Finance, Tax, Valuation, Forensics, and Litigation Support teams to offer comprehensive, collaborative services.
  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining findings, facts, and highlights resulting from the client engagement.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses, and industry.
  • Raise awareness of MNP at community events.
  • Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior team members.
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge.
  • 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience in public accounting.
  • Experience in auditing public companies in Canada or in the US.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with US GAAP, IFRS, and ASPE accounting standards.
  • Experience dealing with Canadian and US securities regulators is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
