The Opportunity Our Canadian Regulatory Compliance, Canada Gas team is currently looking to add a Regulatory Compliance Specialist based in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Canadian Regulatory Compliance, this position will provide regulatory advice and support to business units and internal programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. The role requires the ability to establish and maintain relationships, enhance credibility and trust, and influence and manage across multiple levels of the organization. The successful candidate will regularly communicate with regulatory authorities and agencies regarding incidents, compliance verification activities, emergencies, and current and proposed regulations, legislation, and guidelines. They will develop and manage Canadian compliance programs and undertake corporate initiatives on behalf of Canadian Regulatory Compliance. What You’ll Do Lead and manage internal regulatory issues to resolution in collaboration with TC Energy stakeholders. Provide verbal and written notification to regulatory authorities in Canada when reportable incidents have occurred. Facilitate and lead regulatory compliance verification activities driven by regulators, including implementation assessments, emergency management exercises and audits. Work with company subject matter experts to guide investigations, prepare reports, and develop responses to compliance enforcement tools. Support TC Energy’s internal programs and processes, including management systems. Provide guidance on regulations, standards, best practices, company policies, procedures, and their applicability. Respond to and manage reportable incidents/accidents. Collaborate with related functional resources and peer Compliance Team Members to identify, establish and support effective company-wide compliance programs. Implement regulatory initiatives related to standards, processes, and/or procedures. Identify process improvements and best practices and ensure implementation. Represent TC Energy in all aspects of regulatory requirements with regulators. Disseminate information on key regulatory compliance issues to senior leadership. Participate in a team-based 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure timely reporting of events to CER, BCER and TSB. Prepare written reports and request responses to regulatory authorities and review reports by others. Lead or support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance tracking tools and systems. Participate in lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives, integrating feedback into lifecycle asset management strategies. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a 2- or 3-year technical school program or Associate degree in engineering technology. 8 years of related experience. Knowledge of energy regulations and operations in the oil and natural gas pipeline industry (particularly BCER and CER). Very strong communication (written and verbal) and facilitation skills with the ability to tailor delivery to all levels of audience. Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of pipeline operations including engineering, safety, and compliance. Strong planning, organizing, prioritizing, strategic thinking and project management skills. Skilled at prioritizing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to work with formal and informal organizational networks and all levels of the organization. Strong knowledge of Management System principles, particularly the Onshore Pipeline Regulations from CER, and quality assurance activities for continuous improvement. Experience with regulatory reporting systems such as Enablon. Familiarity with CER-regulated assets and lifecycle phases, including emergency management, field inspections, and stakeholder liaison activities. Ability to interpret and apply CSA Z662 and other relevant standards in pipeline integrity, safety, and operational compliance.
