In exchange for being the great employee that every company wants to have, with us you get to:Work in a diverse, collaborative, inclusive environment where people are encouraged to be creative, come up with new ideas and share what they thinkBuild on what you can do and know through hands-on learning, mentoring and training—whether you are at the beginning or your career or somewhere else along the wayGrow in more than one direction by being an important part of a smaller company— you’ll take on more responsibility, earn greater recognition for your work, gain more exposure to new practice areas, and have a bigger impact on the company’s successBe a valued part of a company that knows that holding on to good employees has to be a core business strategyBalance your work and life in an office that appreciates that life gets busy, tooJoin a history of success at one of the oldest engineering consultancies in Ontario—we’ve been an important part of the province’s development for the last 65 years and we are now developing our new long-term vision with our revised Strategic Plan.If this sounds like good reasons for working at a company, then consider joining our teamJob Function:Working in the CFA Linear Infrastructure Group, this position in general comprises project and staff management, conceptual planning, assessment, analysis, Class EA study and detailed design and contract document preparation, support during construction and business development/client liaison for water and wastewater infrastructure projects (distribution and transmission watermains, sanitary/storm local and trunk sewers, water and wastewater pumping and storage facilities, stormwater management and drainage works and infrastructure rehabilitation and/or upgrade).Responsibilities:Carry out and manage all aspects of design for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCollaborate with multidisciplinary design teamsProvide leadership in the assessment and development of detailed designs for projects involving water and wastewater infrastructureUnderstand and apply the current design guidelines, criteria and standards (OPS, OPSD, MECP, Region/Municipal, clients’ own, etc.)Develop designs through all design phases, conceptual to detailed designsAnalysis, evaluate appropriate design solutions and design of water and wastewater infrastructurePerform design calculations and documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsSupervise, oversee and review calculations and designs performed by junior engineers, EITs and other technical staffPerform Independent Design Check calculationsDevelop and administer preparation of construction plans for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCoordinate with and direct CAD production activities for design productionPrepare and review technical reports, tender documents including technical special provisions to accompany construction plansDevelop quantity and expected construction cost estimates in support of plan, specification and estimate scopes of workPrepare project schedules and budgets, reports on project status including Earned ValuePrepare task project documentation including PMP plan, issues log, risk log, utility matrices, etc.Develop engineering studies, reports and documentationConduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of designsLiaise with relevant agency / regulatory approval agencies and adhere to processes pertaining to municipal engineering projectsLiaise with other project stakeholders including the public through public consultation processes and attending public information meetingsInterface with clients for project delivery, attend client meetings and presentationsCoordination with sub-consultantsLead a project team of engineers including training, development, recruiting and ongoing guidance and mentorship of teamPerform other duties as requiredBusiness Development:Preparation of proposals for linear water and wastewater infrastructures projects and making client presentationsContribute to the proposal efforts for other related multidiscipline projectsMaintain and grow client relationships and attend client functionsDevelop new opportunities with existing clientsContribute to expanding client base to support company growthAttend industry functionsPreparation of and contribute to project and company publications including presentations at industry functionsQualifications:Ten years experience in leading Transmission Watermains and Trunk Sewer Linear ProjectsP.Eng. designation in OntarioExperience in rehabilitation large diameter transmission mains and sewer trunks;
