The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assigned tests and procedures in the Cytogenetic and Molecular Laboratories. Responsibilities Follow established lab protocols to perform routine and complex testing of various genetic conditions Receive training in and display competency in various cytogenetic and molecular techniques used in the lab Chromosome Karyotype and FISH analysis and interpretation Various Molecular Genetic techniques including - MLPA and Next-Generation Sequencing Report generation using the Lab Information System Lab safety and quality improvement Proficiency testing, test method evaluation and participation in accreditation activities Training of new staff and students Other duties as assigned within the scope of work of a Genetic Technologist in the lab Qualifications Graduate of a recognized program for Clinical Genetics Technology, with certification in Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics. Must be eligible for registration or registered as a member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (C.M.L.T.O) Minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a Clinical Genetics laboratory setting is essential Experience with Cytogenetic and Molecular Genetic Techniques Successful candidates must have demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Professional and capable of developing effective working relationships Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills Evidence of participation in continuing education Working knowledge of standard computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Laboratory Information Systems.
