Interprofessional Education Specialist – Genetic Medicine Program The Hospital for Sick Children invites applications for the Interprofessional Education Specialist (IES) role in the Genetic Medicines Program. This leadership position advances paediatric practice by shaping and delivering interprofessional education that strengthens clinical expertise, professional growth, and leadership capacity for gene‑mediated and precision therapies. Role Overview The IES will lead education and readiness initiatives that enable interprofessional teams to deliver individualized, innovative care for children receiving genetic therapies. Topics include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, teaching in classroom and clinical settings, and fostering a culture of excellence in education and patient care. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate education, training, and competency development for staff involved in gene therapy initiation, administration, and monitoring. Support interdisciplinary teams in developing and implementing best practices and clinical guidelines. Facilitate knowledge translation and promote evidence‑based, safe, and ethical care. Lead quality improvement and change management initiatives related to genetic and cellular therapeutics. Champion collaboration and inclusion across programs and disciplines. Essential Requirements Professional registration in good standing with the relevant regulatory body. Master’s degree or other advanced degree in a relevant healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Public Health). Minimum of 3 years of experience in paediatric healthcare. Demonstrated professional leadership and collaboration skills. Self‑directed, motivated, and innovative. Knowledge of process improvement, change management, patient safety, program planning/implementation, and evaluation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex clinical information clearly and accessibly. Preferred Assets Experience with gene therapy. 3+ years’ experience as an Interprofessional Education Specialist.
