Role Summary

We're seeking a Lead Embedded Test & Automation Developer who will provide technical leadership to a team of test automation developers delivering Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), platforms, and CI/CD pipelines for all Geotab telematics and expandability embedded products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement improvements for embedded software automation test frameworks.
  • Guide the team in test strategy development, create technical documentation, manage test coverage, and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements.
  • Mentor junior team members, drive continuous process automation, and collaborate with stakeholders to plan and improve testing strategies.
  • Participate in defining, designing, and implementing tools/infrastructure improvements for embedded software end-to-end automation test frameworks.
  • Determine strategy, work breakdown structure, and timeline for HIL and SIL automation setups.
  • Prepare technical documents and design specifications for the framework and automated tools usage.
  • Be involved in understanding new devices and products, their requirements, and define test requirements with test strategy and test plan.
  • Technically guide and mentor junior team members in implementing and extending embedded test framework support.
  • Manage test coverage, test environment creation, and maintenance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness.
  • Build and contribute to CI/CD Pipelines, release management, and testing, release strategies.
  • Recommend innovative ideas to automate processes to reduce manual effort and implement.
  • Solve complex problems, contribute to defining strategic direction with stakeholders, help with planning the roadmap, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, dSPACE, Vector tools.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with agile methodology and scrum-based development is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and have the flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast-changing priorities and deadlines.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Stay current with new testing technologies and drive initiatives within the team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
