OverviewOccupational Therapist - Manitoba Justice, Custody Branch, Correctional Services Division. Regular/full-time position located in Brandon, MB. Salary: OT1 $66,026.00 - $78,451.00 per year. Closing Date: November 16, 2025. Occupational Therapy students eligible to graduate in spring 2025 are encouraged to apply.ContextThe Standing Together Healing Lodge South is a dedicated Therapeutic Community located on the grounds of The Brandon Correctional Centre. It promotes healthy behavior through trauma-informed, culturally appropriate programming and healing. Staff work in a supportive, program-intensive environment to inspire change and support participants toward successful release or transfer to federal facilities. The team includes Traditional Indigenous Ceremony Providers/Indigenous Cultural Support Officers, unit staff, supervisors, program staff and an Occupational Therapist. A trauma-informed approach and understanding of Indigenous history and reconciliation are important in this role.ResponsibilitiesProvide accessible, inclusive, purposeful, and culturally safe occupational therapy services to participants in a Healing Lodge/correctional setting.Collaborate with Traditional Indigenous Ceremony Providers, Indigenous Cultural Support Officers and other team members to support Indigenous clients with psychiatric/mental health disorders, physical, medical and/or cognitive conditions. Support a caseload that may include geriatric clients, brain injuries, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and behaviorally challenged inmates.Work in alignment with the program team to support participant journeys and assist with resources for release or transfer.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and/or entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) in good standing (practising or provisional register as an examination candidate).Licensed member in good standing of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (AOTM).Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search; satisfactory Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Checks; Enhanced Security Screening Level 4.Full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's Licence; Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED certificate (two-day course).Ability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends as required; satisfactory Certificate of Medical Fitness.Ability to work overtime as necessary.Essential knowledge includes: current trends in needs of persons with intellectual disabilities related to occupational therapy services; leadership and person-centered care; crisis response; trauma-informed care; cultural humility; Indigenous history and reconciliation; social determinants of health; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.NotesPlease indicate the Advertisement Number and Position Title in the subject line and/or body of your email when applying.
