Community Living Mississauga provides a variety of supports and services to people who have an intellectual disability, including: residential supports, employment resources, community engagement, Supported Independent Living, respite, and various day support options. Our mission is to provide support to people to ensure their quality of life in the community is meaningfully improved, promoting inclusion and independence. Description of Position

The Weekend Respite Programs provide support to youth, aged 13-17 who have an intellectual disability while they participate in recreational activities within Mississauga on Friday evenings in the Friday Nights Out and all day on Saturdays in the Saturday Teen Activity Program. In addition, onsite presence will be required to perform various administrative duties, time and day to be determined. Under the guidance of the Manager, Respite & Leisure Services, this Supervisor role is responsible for the overall operation of the Weekend Respite Programs, including the supervision of team members.

Description of Duties

Oversee the day-to-day operation of respite program including program evaluation, program fees, scheduling activities, site maintenance and achieving outcomes for each person supported.
Build community partnerships, recognize and act on opportunities to create partnerships and lasting relationships to benefit respite opportunities.
Ensure all corporate policies and legislative compliance requirements are met including Health and Safety, Human Rights, funders, Municipal requirements, Ministry of Labour etc.
Provide coaching and supervision of team members, facilitate conflict resolution, develop skills, manage performance, scheduling/staffing, recruiting, payroll and budget expenditures of all assigned cost centres.
Encourage self-expression of people supported, and utilize knowledge of verbal and nonverbal communications, including alternative communication systems and techniques.
Apply techniques and understand concepts related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI).

Qualifications

Developmental Services Worker Diploma (preferred), or Social Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the social services field or working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
Will consider a University Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the social services field or working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
Prior experience working with Personal Outcome Measures and Social Capital preferred.
Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G); access to a reliable vehicle and car insurance.
Proficient in PC computer environment; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other software.
Bilingualism in English/French or other language would be considered an asset.

Equivalency

- Enrolled and actively pursuing Social Services Worker diploma, Child and Youth Care diploma, or a university degree in a related discipline; and experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability; OR
- Successful completion of a university degree in an unrelated discipline and a minimum one year’s experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability
