This position reports directly to the Sr. Engineering Manager and is responsible for leading the Project Engineering Team within the Carmeuse Systems group. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, planning, directing, controlling, and evaluating activities within the project engineering group. He/she is responsible for recruiting personnel, overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence, through driving our core behaviors of collaboration, honest feedback, ownership and passion.
Responsibilities & Duties:- Supporting project engineering team in growth and development.
- Consulting and negotiating with active clients to explain proposals for change and present engineering reports and findings.
- Attending client meetings, and project review meetings as needed to support work in progress.
- Assigning, coordinating and reviewing the work within the department.
- Overseeing document & drawing reviews, specification reviews.
- Liaising with relevant professional staff, including engineers, architects, fabricators, contractors, and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensuring that the product is fully and correctly defined and documented.
- Vendor evaluation.
- Developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures for the Project Engineering Team and technical work performed (identifying areas for improvement & researching best practices).
- Mentoring and coaching the Project Engineering team.
- Complying with ISO 9001 requirements, reviewing and updating processes on a yearly basis.
- Ensuring that relevant drawings are reviewed, verified and validated according to the company's quality procedure.
- Ensuring and enforcing compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures.
- Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Minimum 5 years’ related experience.
- Experience leading teams of direct reports in a hybrid work environment across multiple locations.
- Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical preferred).
- Professional Engineer an asset.
- Must have integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, compassion, and resilience.

- Analytical, problem solver with a practical approach.
- High attention to detail, combined with a strong ability to see the big picture.
- Strong technical understanding of engineering systems and process.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of CAD, 3D modeling software (Solidworks), and project/scheduling software.
- Good communication skills; approachable.
- Deep knowledge of own discipline and good understanding of other engineering disciplines.
- Strong understanding of the construction methods needed to make changes to process equipment already in use.
- Knowledge of industry, regulatory, and safety codes and standards such as ASME, API, OSHA, MSHA, etc.
- Must be highly self-motivated and proactive in basic approach to the role.
- Must apply strong organizational skills on a daily basis in the role.
- Demonstrate ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups and provide objective input for the development of practical solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication abilities, including preparing reports and giving presentations.
- Working knowledge of software typical in engineering work (CAD, MS Office Suite).
- Ability to negotiate in and around heavy industrial equipment and construction sites.
- Should communicate very effectively both in written and presentation form.
- Team player by utilizing strong interpersonal skills to relate well to all kinds of people inside and outside the organization.
- Build appropriate rapport with direct reports, peers, and/or managers.
- Self-motivated and understands objectives and is proactive in their approach to achieve them.
- Looks for opportunities to improve upon those objectives.
- Does not wait to be told what is important or when to take action.
- Professional image focused by adhering to company policies on attire and understanding that their business environment can dictate how they should appear.
- Strong quantitative problem-solving, decision-making and time management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate the team, recognize high performance and encourage creativity and risk-taking.
Typical hours: 37.5 hour work weeks – hours vary due to work. Additional hours may be required. Moderate physical effort. Requires a moderate amount of sitting for prolonged periods of time while using the computer. Travel is required.
