The Senior Financial Analyst provides business partnership and subject matter expertise in the areas of reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis as well as is a business lead on the integrated fee model initiative. The role reports to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the monthly/quarterly/annual planning and reporting packages including the monthly variance analysis, quarterly reporting, bi-annual forecast, annual budget, and annual 3-year outlook.
- Prepare and present insightful reporting and analysis using the Corporate Performance Management (CPM) system and data visualization tools to Senior Management and Board Committees.
- Liaise with Department Managers to understand variance drivers, update projections, and identify corrective actions to manage risks and opportunities.
- Play a key partnership role with Business Departments in the annual forecast and budget process including preparing financial packages using CPM tools, managing timelines, leading meetings, and controlling budget inputs and changes.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and modeling (including scenario analysis) to understand and support the impact of our operating costs and industry transformation on the fees charged to our membership base. Our goal is to ensure cost recovery model fairness and sustainability.
- Provide support for technology solutions to address evolving needs related to cost allocation and recovery, planning, analysis and reporting. This includes effective use, access control management, support for system upgrades and integration to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of clear and concise reporting packages with graphs, schedules, and narratives.
- Document and enhance business processes and recommend simplification or improvements.
- Partner with the Finance Operations team on the monthly close process to support completeness and accuracy.
- Provide support and advice to other Finance staff and other departments on an as needed basis.
- Assist or lead ad hoc projects and duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Professional accounting designation is required (CPA); CFA is a strong asset.
- A relevant University Business Degree with majors such as Finance, Accounting, Mathematics/Statistics or MBA.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting.

- Strong business partnership skills and ability to engage with all levels of management.
- Good team player with a positive attitude focused on relationship building.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and ownership, problem-solve, continuously improve, and deliver in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment.
- Conceptual thinking and ability to distill/simplify complex information to bring stakeholder alignment and influence.
- Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to change.
- High integrity with a compliance mindset.
- Advanced PC skills including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
- Proficient in report preparation with CPM systems; Hands on experience with Microsoft Business Central ERP, Adaptive Insights, Power BI is an advantage.
- Financial service sector/investment industry and or not-for profit regulated organization experience an asset.
- Understanding of Canadian GAAP for Not-for-Profits is an asset.
