Program Lead

OUR MISSION
Because of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, Hope Mission exists to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in search of help, healing, and hope.

OUR FACILITY
Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forest 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and more

JOB SUMMARY
This leadership position is responsible for the execution, implementation, and facilitation of main site programs. You will be a role model to these campers while participating in many camp activities. See these campers grow as they conquer the low ropes course, learn how to shoot an arrow with safety and precision in archery, hike a mountain trail, run chase and cheer in a wide game, laugh until your sides hurt during camp improv, and so much more. As much as it is a job, it is also a great camp ministry experience for our staff.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Co-ordinate, supervise, and implement all areas of mainsite camp program (wide games, skills, activities, challenges, bible studies, campfires, and chapel)
  2. Cultivate an environment of spiritual growth for the campers
  3. Develop program in conjunction with camp yearly theme (May and June)
  4. Smooth transitions for program implementation and execution (keeping each day engaging and schedule on-time)
  5. Supervision of camp counsellors and activity leads
  6. Servant leadership attitude
  7. Confidence giving instruction to a large group of children, youth, and counsellors

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Creative problem solving
  2. Works well with others in a team environment
  3. Fun, engaging, quick thinking/response time
  4. Passion for working with underprivileged kids
  5. At least 2 years of previous camp work experience
  6. Able to live on site in community for 4 months (May through August)
  7. Driver’s License is an asset
  8. Punctuality
  9. Good physical health – for wide games, skill building activities, and walking distances
  10. Previous camp experience is an asset

Other Requirements:

  1. Being a Christian Organization, we require our employees to agree with and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith. (Hope Mission Statement of Faith)
  2. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  3. Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  4. A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  5. Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures

*Every returning staff member receives $200 per month raise. All staff who complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer.
