Job Description:
Who we need

We are looking for a Director of Technical Operations (Site Reliability Engineer - SRE) and DevOps to join our expert team of energetic and knowledgeable staff building the next generation of advanced technology stacks. As the Director of TechOps (SRE) and DevOps, you’ll lead a team of platform engineers responsible for designing, building, and operating a next-gen continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline to build, package, and deploy products. The pipeline will facilitate our software release process in a hybrid environment and automate repetitive processes for development teams. You will have the opportunity to maintain and grow a talented team and build a state-of-the-art DevOps and SRE platform to help IMAX achieve its goals.


What you’ll be doing:
  1. Lead a team of talented platform engineers.
  2. Assist in developing departmental budget and manage yearly spending to stay within approved budget limits.
  3. Handle the day-to-day executive and administrative functions that come with a director position such as coding invoices, submitting cap ex requests, etc.
  4. Build new extensible and flexible CI/CD frameworks and enhance existing ones to support multiple concurrent development efforts across many projects in a hybrid environment.
  5. Create and manage extensible and flexible version and configuration management processes for multiple concurrent development, integration, test, and production environments that include web, mobile and cloud components.
  6. Identify, evaluate, and implement tools and technologies to drive automation and optimization of version control, configuration management and CI/CD processes.
  7. Define and implement processes to track, update, and modify multiple dev/test environments, including the ability to create new ones quickly or remove unused ones.
  8. Drive adoption of standardized SCM and CI/CD processes and identify, implement, and track key metrics for visibility.
  9. Recruit, develop, and retain talent to build the next gen DevOps team and ensure the staff has the skills and capabilities to meet development needs.
  10. Collaborate with development teams to understand requirements, propose changes, and gain alignment to drive continuous improvement and automation into the SCM and CI/CD processes.
  11. Engage in on-call participation to assist the AWS service deployment pipeline.
  12. Create infrastructure and products that promote and enforce high reliability.
  13. Prepare for and carry out extensive zero-downtime migrations.

What you bring:
  1. 7+ years of experience in software development (Java or .NET), DevOps, Tech Ops (SRE) and configuration management.
  2. 5+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, tools and infrastructures for applications deployed On Prem and in the Cloud.
  3. 5+ years of experience with software configuration management (SCM) environments for multiple parallel development efforts and complex branching strategies.
  4. 5+ years of experience managing complex development, test, integration, and production environments with different versions, building new environments, and providing support for existing ones.
  5. Solid understanding of DevOps and configuration management spanning web, mobile and cloud domains.
  6. Experience scripting to automate repetitive processes including creating build scripts using tools like Ant, Gradle, Maven, etc.
  7. Experience with repositories like GitHub, Bitbucket, and Google Cloud Source Repositories.
  8. Experience with CI/CD tools like TeamCity, Jenkins and Octopus, Ansible or GitLab.
  9. Understanding of and experience with container builds using Docker.
  10. Leadership: you take ownership of your deliverables and can coach team members to successfully drive and achieve results. You can manage and prioritize multiple initiatives with competing deadlines. You can effectively delegate and orchestrate team workload and align with business priorities.

You have an appreciation for diverse experiences, cultures, and backgrounds and can work inclusively with global teams.
  13. Flexibility: You understand the nature and demands of a 24/7 always available global environment and can participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support our systems.
