Duties As directed by the physiotherapist, carry out exercise and walking programs and/or therapy activities with patients to increase endurance and tolerance Assist physiotherapist with patient treatment. Participate in facilitation of group therapy Facilitate education to patients as assigned by the Physiotherapist Perform routine range of motion exercises on patients. Prepare and apply the following treatments under the direct supervision of the therapist; ultrasound, electrical stimulation. The site intensity and rate being initiated by the responsible physiotherapist. Record and enter workload units in software. Maintain medical records of treatment provided as required in EMR. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Participate in quality improvement Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma Experience Minimum of 2 years practical physiotherapy experience Knowledge/Ability Demonstrated ability to instruct patients on the use of crutches, canes, walkers and slings Demonstrated knowledge in range of motion exercises Demonstrated knowledge of ultrasound, electrical stimulation Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, under supervision and as a part of a team. Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts. Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.
