Purpose The Scotia Wealth Management Will and Estate Planner (WEP) is a key member of the Scotia Wealth Management team, providing clients with a premium wealth‑management experience. As part of an innovative team‑based approach, the successful candidate will deepen and strengthen client relationships by providing a lighter‑touch consultation targeted at clients who do not qualify for a full ETC engagement. The consultation includes a review of current situations focused on wills, powers of attorney, other estate planning considerations such as insurance coverage, and the overall financial plan. The engagement showcases additional expertise at Scotia Wealth Management and identifies high‑level estate‑planning gaps and opportunities to deepen the client relationship while helping them achieve their goals. Key Job Accountabilities Deliver a high‑level estate‑planning consultation to high‑net‑worth Scotia Wealth Management clients. Partner with Scotia Wealth Management advisors to meet HNW clients and prospects, creating a positive experience for the client and the advisor while providing a review of wills and powers of attorney with high‑level recommendations. Conduct a 1–2 hour discovery meeting with the client and advisor to clarify their situation and showcase expertise. Produce a written report highlighting appropriate, high‑level needs‑based estate‑planning strategies and solutions, plus identified wealth opportunities (e.g., insurance needs). Recognize opportunities for partners and clients for Total Wealth solutions such as financial planning, business succession, investments, private banking and insurance. Develop and strengthen existing relationships and build new relationships to increase penetration and awareness of the offering. Support Wealth Management Business Development by promoting will and estate‑planning products and services to prospective clients, coordinating with the local Estate & Trust Consultant (ETC), and participating in round‑table meetings to triage potential clients. Assist ETC in helping other experts (Total Wealth Planners, Insurance Consultants) assess potential new opportunities. Assist ETC in delivering client and advisor education seminars to improve awareness around estate‑planning strategies that drive new business and increase advisor referrals. Play a key risk‑management role by ensuring actions and behaviours drive a positive client experience while operating within relevant policies and guidelines. Support Scotia Wealth offices with technical expertise and stay current on industry developments. Contribute to Regional Team Participate actively in learning and development activities. Build effective working relationships with various business lines. Contribute to the coordinated delivery of Total Wealth planning, advice, and solutions. Facilitate a culture of open and honest communication. Actively participate and contribute to touch‑bases and team meetings. Encourage new ideas and approaches. Share knowledge and experience to enhance development of all team members. Develop and execute a meaningful employee development plan. Additional Accountabilities Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy of day‑to‑day controls to meet operational, compliance, AML/AFT/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations. Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Skills and Functional Competencies Experience in estate planning is a prerequisite, with a preference for a lawyer. In‑depth experience dealing with HNW clients and their advisors. In‑depth knowledge and technical proficiency related to wealth and estate‑planning strategies such as insurance, tax, family and charity law, and business succession.
