Director, National Accounts, Commercial Banking - Montreal, QC Join to apply for the Director, National Accounts, Commercial Banking - Montreal, QC role at Scotiabank This role is for a product generalist who has a strong understanding of financial products and focuses on the cross sale and retention of existing business customers. The incumbent will identify prospects in target markets, develop sales pipelines, conduct prospect sales calls, and qualify opportunities with due diligence. The director manages a high‑complexity customer portfolio with credit authorizations >$25 MM and annual sales >$75 MM. The role is specific to the National Accounts segment of Canadian Commercial Banking. Responsibilities Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Develop and implement structured marketing strategies to maximize business development opportunities. Create strategic sales plans for prospects and existing customers. Identify prospects and referrals from internal and external networks. Analyze prospect lists and prioritize opportunities based on industry data and customer analytics. Partner with the National Accounts Execution Team on credit deal structuring and negotiation. Determine pricing and financing for customers, ensuring profitability of the book of business. Lead direct selling of credit and non‑credit commercial products to prospects and customers. Maintain an ongoing sales pipeline. Build and maintain a strong market profile through relationship activities, networking, and community events. Support credit portfolio management, ensuring timely and detailed credit reviews and compliance with bank policies. Ensure satisfactory client onboarding, managing diligence, KYC, and approval processes. Apply the bank’s risk appetite and culture in day‑to‑day decisions. Qualifications University degree in business, economics, or a related field. At least 5 years of commercial or corporate banking experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French. Strong network of prospects and centers of influence in the region. Expert knowledge of Canada’s financial services marketplace and the assigned market area’s key industries. Expert sales management, coaching, relationship building, and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and motivate others. Strong computer skills and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet software, and planning tools. Expert knowledge of commercial banking products, systems, and operating procedures. Credit skills and working knowledge of financial analysis, risk analysis techniques, credit adjudication, and the bank’s lending policies and procedures.
