Description and Requirements About the Position Lenovo's Solutions & Services Group (SSG) is a business unit focused on delivering end-to-end IT solutions and services. It combines Lenovo's hardware and software expertise to offer services like attached services, managed services, and "as a Service" (AaS) offerings. In the Virtualization Engineer role, you will be responsible for operation and maintenance of private cloud infrastructure services and operating systems. This position will be remote and will have CST working hours. There may also be quarterly travel to our office in downtown Chicago. Key Responsibilities Responsible for daily operation and maintenance of private cloud infrastructure services and operating systems. Promptly handle production system incidents to ensure overall infrastructure SLA. Continuously optimize the operation and maintenance framework of private cloud services to enhance platform stability and availability. Improve platform and tooling capabilities and drive architectural upgrades. Optimize and improve existing O&M and monitoring processes to enhance standardization and consistency in operations. Basic Qualifications 2+ years of Experience with OpenStack components such as Cinder, Glance, Neutron, and Keystone. 4 years of Experience with Linux and Windows server operation and maintenance. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success managing environments with 100+ servers. Hands-on experience in managing large-scale OpenStack clusters. Proficiency in both Linux and Windows technologies; capable of independently resolving common system issues and analyzing performance problems related to CPU and I/O. Proficiency in shell or Python scripting, with strong skills in automation to ensure stable and efficient service delivery. Proficiency in KVM virtualization technologies such as libvirt, QEMU, and Virtio. Able to optimize OpenStack performance and ensure business stability under high concurrency. Solid understanding of network routing and switching technologies, TCP/IP, and common network protocols, with strong troubleshooting capabilities. Strong sense of responsibility, able to work independently, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Cultural Competency working across Chinese, American, Desi, European, and South American cultural contexts, ensuring messages are communicated with clarity and tact. The base salary budgeted range for this position is $85-105k. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. This position will be remote and will have CST working hours.
