OverviewJoin to apply for the Radiation Therapist I (ACB) role at Alberta Health Services.Your Opportunity: Cancer Care Alberta is currently looking for a driven Radiation Therapist (RT) who wants to grow their career as a pivotal member of our Cancer Care team. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital’s (GPRH) Cancer Centre serves as the regional referral center for the majority of northern Alberta. This brand-new, state-of-the-art facility provides comprehensive care to cancer patients and brings exceptional radiation services to the North Zone. The addition of Linear Accelerator (TrueBeam LINAC) machines allows us to treat most cancers that require radiation treatment without travel, and we will also work with a CT Big Bore scanner for enhanced treatment planning. Previously, patients would have had to travel to Edmonton for radiation treatment; this can now be accessed closer to home. Working in a regional center offers collaboration with Oncologists, Medical Physicists and other oncology specialists, with opportunities for professional growth and leadership for RTs that may take longer to access in larger tertiary centers. There is access to dosimetry teamwork and financially supported educational opportunities for career development. Excitingly, this RT role is eligible for relocation, CAMRT exam and ACMDTT assessment reimbursement that can be discussed with the hiring Manager. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance with an annual maximum of $3,000. The allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.ResponsibilitiesDeliver a prescribed course of radiation treatment to patients and assist in the efficient, safe and accurate planning of patient care during simulation and/or planning procedures according to the direction of a Radiation Oncologist.Assess each patient’s reactions to treatment, document treatment plans, and maintain patient records.Educate patients about treatment procedures, side effects, and management strategies; make referrals to other health professionals as needed.QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Completion of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy in Canada or an accredited non-Canadian program.
