Electrical Engineer – Toronto, Ontario Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Design of:
    1. Medium voltage distribution
    2. Low voltage distribution
    3. Emergency backup systems (generator and/or UPS)
    4. Grounding
    5. Fire alarm
    6. Lighting and lighting controls
    7. Security/data/phone
    8. Process electrical and automation power and control requirements
  2. Modeling and analyzing electrical power systems using SKM PowerTools.
  3. Modelling and design in AutoCAD and Revit.
  4. Perform protection co-ordination, short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, and arc flash hazard studies.
  5. Writing and reviewing equipment, tender, and installation specifications.
  6. Coordination with and supervision of other members of the project team.
  7. Field reviews and field review reports.
  8. Construction and equipment procurement follow-up.
  9. Support during start-up and commissioning.
  10. Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties and coordinating work schedules.
  11. Conducting technical research related to electrical systems.
  12. Coordinating with equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
  13. Supporting the development of construction cost estimates.
  14. Reviewing shop drawings for conformity with equipment specifications.
  15. Supporting positive client interactions and business development activities.
  16. Mentoring others and providing training.
  17. Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
Key Requirements:

BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering

Current registration with PEO as a EIT or P.Eng.

Professional work experience as an Electrical Engineer consultant in the agri-food, pharmaceutical, or food and beverage industries.

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a must.

Strong oral and written communications skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Experienced in leading and managing design projects, proposals, on-site commissioning, and/or power system studies in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of local, Provincial, and National regulations and standards related to electrical design.

Good knowledge of electrical utility standards and design criteria.
