We are Making Sustainability Happen.As our new Water Quality Modeller, you will play an important role in broadening SLR’s expertise in Integrated Mine Water Management, supporting projects and offices across Canada and potentially abroad. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, with primarily remote work arrangements possible for suitable candidates. Qualified candidates located anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Develop Goldsim-based surface water quality models and analyze water chemistry data. Develop geochemical source terms as input parameters to models. Contribute to the growth of our natural environment service line in Canada, while supporting mine water management work as well as permitting and environmental management groups on projects across the country. Apply knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards within Canada to manage and deliver projects meeting high standards for quality and client satisfaction. Provide outstanding client service and advisory solutions to help clients solve complex problems. Collaborate with geochemists to acquire relevant geochemical data and develop geochemical source terms. Collaborate with surface water balance and groundwater modellers to identify and integrate touch-points between models. Prepare technical reports documenting modelling methodology, input parameters, results, and potential environmental effects. Integrate water quality monitoring data and modelling results into engineering studies, environmental assessments, and management plans. Plan and implement water quality projects including development of monitoring programs, QA/QC, presentation of results, and preparing reports. Support and/or lead multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule, delivering models and other project deliverables meeting quality and technical excellence. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience developing water quality models, geochemical source terms, and conducting water quality assessments applicable to the mining industry. High proficiency with Goldsim software for water quality modelling; experience with other water modelling platforms is beneficial. Academic background in geology, geochemistry, engineering, biology, or other relevant specialization. Master’s degree preferred. Relevant professional designation, or eligibility for registration. Knowledge and experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with knowledge of British Columbia, Ontario, Yukon, and/or Northwest Territories mine permitting processes. Ability to prepare technical reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines and to communicate with regulatory bodies, industry, and stakeholders. Valid driver’s license and willingness to undertake short-term travel. Demonstrated experience balancing multiple project commitments and deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
