Job DescriptionMillennium Medical Centre is looking for a qualified Obstetrician/Gynecologist to join the MMC call group and clinic at 311 Balmoral Street in Winnipeg. Several generalist Obstetricians/Gynecologists across the city have already transitioned out of obstetrics, and we expect two members of our call group to depart within the next year. This has contributed to longer wait times and indicates that many healthcare providers are similarly struggling with heavy workloads.
Our clinic group consists of a dynamic team who are highly supportive of each other. We have a recently renovated clinic space located across from the University of Winnipeg campus in a diverse downtown neighbourhood. Each Obstetrician/Gynecologist has a dedicated assistant, the option to do colposcopy, and a highly competitive monthly flat overhead rate. The ability to provide care for pelvic organ prolapse is highly desirable, as this service is becoming increasingly limited with other surgeons moving away from this skill set.
Our clinic group forms part of the MMC call group, a group of 11 Obstetricians & Gynecologists who share obstetrical patient coverage and emergency gynecology patient coverage at Health Sciences Centre. Gynecologic surgical time will be limited to scramble slates and emergency surgery as part of community gynecology call. Candidates will contribute to both emergency obstetrics and gynecology coverage at the Health Sciences Centre, with gynecologic surgical opportunities initially available through scramble slates and emergency procedures. Additional surgical time can be requested through the Departmental OR Committee as surgical gynecologic practice is established.
Since the hospital is a teaching centre, the application process will be a dual application for appointment to the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Health Sciences with the expectation of involvement in clinical and didactic undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The applicant will support a work and learning environment that embraces the Max Rady College of Medicine’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion policies.
