OverviewEstablished in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. You can contribute to that success while building your career.Role SummaryAs the educational leader in the classroom, the Guests Services Representative Applied Certificate Instructor will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs with the purpose of promoting student success. This position is to organize and implement instructional activities which create a learning environment that guides and provides the greatest opportunity for student success. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT\'s vision, mission, and mandate.ResponsibilitiesDeliver course content related to tourism, hotel operations and the guest services tradeCoordinate and supervise student practicumsComplete all course-required materials including attendance records and course evaluationsUse appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time framesEnsure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environmentAdhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and proceduresMaintain classroom discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary actionMake recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation proceduresRequired CompetenciesRequired Competencies: Flexible & Adaptable; Effective Communication; Relationship Building; Results Oriented; Student Focus; Communication (Instructional); Knowledge & Expertise; TeamworkRequired Qualifications and ExperienceThree (3) to six (6) years of related experience in the areas of hotel and restaurant management, guest services or tourism is required. Related certification in the guest services industry is an asset. Experience in the facilitation of training in guest services occupations and workplace essentials are considered assets. For success in this position a genuine commitment to help students learn and succeed is required. Prior teaching experience would be preferred. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset.
