Join our small but mighty team Story Planet is looking for a Program Facilitator with an educational and creative background for our Creative Writing Workshops for Children (Part-Time Contract).

Here's what you'd be doing:

  • Co-leading or leading programs in schools and community centres.
  • Bringing an educational lens to our programs’ curriculum design.
  • Ensuring that programming meets the standards, goals, and outcomes laid out by the organization.
  • Liaising with teachers and community workers to plan workshops and understand the unique needs of the students.
  • Along with your co-facilitator, adapting the curriculum for workshops to meet the needs of the students.
  • Providing leadership, clear direction, and support to the facilitation team, including volunteers.
  • Overseeing the evaluation process for programs.
  • Ensuring all student work is collected and recorded for final book publishing.
  • Attending class book launches, performances, and other events related to programs.
  • We work with students in primarily Black and BIPOC communities and ensure our facilitators represent those communities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in elementary education or related field.
  • Teaching or arts education experience with children.
  • Clear knowledge of literacy skills, e.g. grammar and spelling.
  • Lived experience working with or being part of equity-deserving communities.
  • Having knowledge about Social Emotional Learning.
  • Strong diversity and inclusion knowledge and practice.
