Join our small but mighty team Story Planet is looking for a Program Facilitator with an educational and creative background for our Creative Writing Workshops for Children (Part-Time Contract).
Here's what you'd be doing:
- Co-leading or leading programs in schools and community centres.
- Bringing an educational lens to our programs’ curriculum design.
- Ensuring that programming meets the standards, goals, and outcomes laid out by the organization.
- Liaising with teachers and community workers to plan workshops and understand the unique needs of the students.
- Along with your co-facilitator, adapting the curriculum for workshops to meet the needs of the students.
- Providing leadership, clear direction, and support to the facilitation team, including volunteers.
- Overseeing the evaluation process for programs.
- Ensuring all student work is collected and recorded for final book publishing.
- Attending class book launches, performances, and other events related to programs.
- We work with students in primarily Black and BIPOC communities and ensure our facilitators represent those communities.
Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent experience in elementary education or related field.
- Teaching or arts education experience with children.
- Clear knowledge of literacy skills, e.g. grammar and spelling.
- Lived experience working with or being part of equity-deserving communities.
- Having knowledge about Social Emotional Learning.
- Strong diversity and inclusion knowledge and practice.
