Job Description Supplier Quality Engineer – Automotive Stamping Location: Vaughan, Ontario Compensation: Up to $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience) Industry: Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturing About the Company Our client is a leading Tier 1 automotive manufacturer specializing in precision metal stamping and welded assemblies for global OEMs. With a commitment to innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, they are looking to add a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to their growing Quality team in Woodbridge, Ontario. Position Summary The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all supplier-provided materials, components, and services meet company and customer quality standards. This individual will lead supplier quality improvement initiatives, manage supplier audits, and work closely with the internal quality and engineering teams to resolve supplier-related issues. The ideal candidate has a strong background in metal stamping, APQP, and Tier 1 automotive quality systems. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality assurance processes in line with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards. Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and quality system evaluations to ensure ongoing compliance. Manage supplier PPAP submissions and approvals, ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Support supplier development through training, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for supplier-related non-conformances. Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Production teams to qualify new suppliers and materials. Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive measurable improvement. Support APQP, FMEA, and control plan activities for new product launches. Participate in cross-functional quality reviews and support internal / external audits. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in a Tier 1 automotive environment. Hands‑on experience with metal stamping, welding, or assembly processes. Strong understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC). Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions. Excellent communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software tools.
