Bilingual Senior Automobile Underwriter

Bilingual Senior Automobile Underwriter (Montreal) Zurich Canada is looking for a Senior Automobile Underwriter to develop our portfolio in the Eastern Canadian commercial insurance market. Reporting to the Eastern Region Manager, you will be responsible for a portfolio of existing medium to large complex commercial auto risks, while also having the opportunity to grow your automobile portfolio using your broker network and underwriting knowledge. This is a hybrid job opportunity in Montréal, Quebec. What you will do Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities with key broker partners. Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet the organization's appetite, balancing sound business opportunity. Make agent / broker / customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose. Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals. Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account. Participate in sales team meetings related to assigned brokers and/or territory. Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date. Update required systems with details of broker / client visits and account status within specified time frame. Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts. Develop strong broker and client networks related to industries underwritten by the business unit. Calculate target price accurately by utilizing underwriting tools appropriately. Measure exposure, analyze risk. Assist in training and developing staff. Provide expertise on coverage issues with claims programs and guidelines. Promote the organization's products and services in order to increase penetration within the agency plant. Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, Associate Degree, and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, Associate Degree, and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Knowledge of line(s) of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business. Experience with Microsoft Office. Bilingual in French / English is a must. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree. 5 or more years of experience with commercial lines auto underwriting. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in: Medium to large sized, bulk rated fleet risks. Loss rated accounts. Heavy commercial US exposure and/or US plated. Our Culture At Zurich, we are proud of our culture.
