The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and detailed cost estimates for envelope opportunities with a secondary focus on packaging and label opportunities. This role supports Sales by leveraging the full breadth of company capabilities to determine the most efficient and cost-effective production methods.Relying on creativity and moving with a sense of urgency, the Estimator is a key operations resource that directly impacts our ability to win new business. The Estimator partners closely with Sales, Production, and Procurement to ensure all quotes are realistic, competitive, and operationally feasible. While not responsible for setting selling prices, the Estimator must understand market dynamics to recommend cost-saving alternatives or innovative production solutions that help Sales win new business.The position involves working with an ERP-based estimating model, where factors and variables are applied to process routings to build accurate costs that reflect actual production methods and operational realities.This is a fast-paced, high-volume role that demands strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive under shifting priorities. The Estimator plays a critical part in driving our company’s goal of becoming a customer-focused, growth-oriented selling organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop accurate and timely cost estimates using company estimating tools and models within the ERP systemReview customer specifications to determine the most efficient, cost-effective manufacturing approachCalculate costs for materials, labor, and machine time based on job requirementsApply current raw material pricing (e.g., paper, window film, cartons, freight, skids) to all estimatesIdentify and recommend alternative production methods or specifications to improve competitiveness or reduce costEnsure estimates reflect actual operational capabilities and resource availabilityPartner with Production teams to confirm production data such as machine speeds, setup times, and die cutting requirementsWork with Procurement to maintain supplier relationships and secure best pricing for raw materials and servicesProvide Sales with clear, actionable estimate data to support the quoting processAct as a trusted resource to help Sales understand operational considerations without making final pricing decisionsProcess Improvement & Data ManagementContinuously update and maintain cost models to reflect current production efficiencies and market conditionsTrack and analyze estimating accuracy by comparing actual production results to estimatesSupport initiatives to streamline estimating processes and reduce quote turnaround timeMaintain an up-to-date database of materials, suppliers, and production costsQualifications and ExperienceEducation & Experience3–4 years of estimating experience in printing, packaging, or paper converting manufacturing requiredStrong understanding of flexographic printing and related converting processesExperience with ERP systems preferred, especially where estimating models apply factors and variables to process routings to build accurate production costsProficiency in MS Office requiredExperience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is an assetCandidate Profile or Skills and CompetenciesAnalytical mindset with strong mathematical ability, including rate, ratio, and basic algebraExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing data and calculationsEffective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to creatively identify alternative solutionsClear and professional business communication skills, both written and verbalStrong collaboration skills to work effectively across Operations, Sales, and ProcurementSelf-motivated and adaptable to changing prioritiesComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Health Benefits to support your well-beingRetirement Plan – A retirement plan to help you plan for the future.Bonus – Annual bonus opportunities based on Company performance and/or Individual goalsCollaborative Culture– A workplace built on communication, integrity, excellence, respect, and teamwork.Work-Life Balance – Support for a healthy balance between work and life.NOTE: This job description in no ways states or implies that these are the only responsibilities of this position.
