OverviewTemp FT (1.0) Learning Assistance Teacher (mat loa eff Jan. 5, 2026 until the return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2026) at School District 60 (Peace River North).Assignment will be at Alwin Holland Elementary School.Position detailsA temporary full-time (1.0) LAT is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective January 5, 2026 until the return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Alwin Holland Elementary School. Alwin Holland has a student population of over 200 students and approximately 30% of those are Indigenous. Our school is an inner city school and our school population is characterized by considerable diversity.Qualifications And ExperienceValid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years levelExperience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of studentsExcellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skillsExperience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belongingStrong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learnUnderstanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class compositionWillingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learningDemonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignityDemonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignityExperience working with children with special needsTraining and experience as an LATAbility to work as part of a team to develop and implement individual plans (IEPs,LSPs,BIPs,AIPs) for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficultiesInterested Applicants Are Required To SupplyThree (3) referencesVerification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)Compensation$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas$3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)Salary as per collective agreement.
