Engineering Co‑op Join our team as an Engineering Co‑op at Johnson Electric. Location: Stafford, ON, Canada (onsite). Your Mission As our next Engineering Co‑op, you will contribute to product and process development in a collaborative, matrix‑based organization. You’ll be expected to work safely and efficiently while complying with Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety Policies, Quality Systems, and Continuous Improvement initiatives (SPS, 5S, CI). What You’ll Be Doing Assist in the development of new products and processes under the guidance of the Product Development Supervisor. Participate in Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) teams and support program managers. Help manage project timelines, track open issues, and ensure timely closure. Work with internal and external design teams to interpret blueprints for powder metal products. Contribute to feasibility reviews and recommend improvements using data‑driven insights. Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and cross‑functional teams. Create Gantt charts and report on project deliverables. Support cost‑saving and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist in floor plan design, considering lean manufacturing and automation principles. Participate in troubleshooting and problem‑solving activities. Engage in automation project tasks and cross‑departmental collaboration (Maintenance, QA, HR, etc.). Qualifications Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science. Some exposure to manufacturing, tooling, design, or the automotive industry is an asset. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and simulation reports. Comfortable working in a team‑oriented and fast‑paced environment. Technical & Skill Requirements Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, and AutoCAD preferred. Demonstration of CNC and related machining skills considered a strong asset. Knowledge of GD&T with blueprint reading ability considered a strong asset. Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation. Work Environment (including Physical Demands) Primarily office environment with some time spent in manufacturing facilities. Day shift.
