AsDirector, Finance & Corporate Controller, supported by a team of four direct reports,you will lead accounting operations and direct the company’s financial strategy. Reporting to the VP, Finance & Business Performance, you are a highly valued member of the Leadership Team that collaborates across all departments, lines of business and regions. You apply your expertise in finance, accounting, and business processes to help all Rodan teams operate seamlessly and capture growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and motivate the accounting team, planning all work activities and reviewing key outputs to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, banking and month end close activities.
  • Review account reconciliations, payment runs, vendor bills and customer invoices.
  • Prepare complex journal entries, including those related to intercompany transactions, foreign currencies, work-in-process assets, job costing and cost allocation.
  • Prepare and review aspects of external reporting, including consolidation, bank reporting and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and review internal reporting to the Leadership Team, including earnings and cash flow forecasts, and recommend strategic action.
  • Take a leading role in the annual strategic planning and budgeting process.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling to support new business opportunities and strategic objectives, including analysis of pricing and commercial terms.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for all aspects of business performance.
  • Manage the annual external audit process.
  • Work with external advisors to ensure tax compliance and optimize tax strategy.
  • Support and lead special projects, including due diligence of potential M&A opportunities.
  • Administer the QuickBooks financial system and related tools and applications.
  • Develop, maintain and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ASPE and strong internal controls.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business.
  • Qualified as a Canadian CPA and knowledgeable of ASPE and/or IFRS standards.
  • 5+ years of finance and accounting experience, including experience working professional services and industry.
  • Experience supervising and training direct reports.
  • Extensive experience with month end close activities, accounting and financial reporting.
  • Exposure to budgeting, financial analysis, tax compliance, and treasury activities.
  • Intermediate or higher Excel skills with experience using Excel for analysis, reporting and modeling.
  • Strong experience with accounting software and systems, such as acting in administrator or super-user roles.
  • Experience working across departments to drive process improvement and automation.
  • Experience with the electricity industry, project-based construction/technical services business, and/or software-as-a-service.
  • Exceptional communicator who can translate business activities into accounting impacts and vice versa.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, customers, and business partners.
  • Strong work ethic with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Decisive with provide ability to provide clear direction based on sound judgement.
  • Action-oriented and entrepreneurial with drive to solve problems beyond the core areas of accounting/finance responsibility.

You will be required to work at our Corporate HQ in Mississauga a minimum of 2 days per week in addition to attending and participating in workshops, projects, or team meetings.
