The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Risk Control Services Leader in Canada to drive growth, profitability and operational efficiency across property, casualty and workers’ compensation lines through a multi‑line industry lens. Duties and Responsibilitiesh3> Lead and manage a team of risk consultants and engineers to improve underwriting results through technical support, risk improvement, risk retention strategies, and underwriting risk assessment. Build a high‑performance culture focused on continuous process improvement and effective workforce management. Establish and monitor performance metrics to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the risk control services team. Oversee benchmarking for team productivity across all supported lines of business and effectively triage work to achieve optimal utilization of onsite and virtual capabilities. Leverage the broader Liberty Mutual organization’s risk control service capabilities to position Risk Control Services as a key market differentiator, participating in strategic planning with market partners and enhancing our market position with brokers and clients. Lead initiatives that evolve the risk assessment process, including building the LC360 risk control services platform and implementing tools that improve risk understanding and client risk management. Promote employee development through planning, coaching, mentoring, training, and cross‑training facilitation. Align staff technical and consultative skills with service strategy, identify skills gaps, and build a deeper talent pipeline. Engage with brokers and clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored risk management solutions, enhancing client satisfaction and loyalty. Maintain effective partnerships with Canadian underwriting, actuarial, and claims teams and global risk services partners, building strong relationships with brokers and clients. Select and manage vendors to ensure high standards of risk control services. Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of risk control services principles and collaborate on developing technical content such as white papers, training materials, and resources. Skills & Qualifications Education: Post‑secondary degree in business, risk management, or a related field. Experience: 10+ years in risk management or risk control services, including 5+ years managing a team of risk engineers or consultants. Proven track record in strategic planning, program delivery, scaling technical services, client portfolio management, senior stakeholder engagement, and ownership of targets. Skills: Leadership with a growth mindset, strategic and operational planning, relationship building, customer service, operational results delivery, collaboration, influence, written and oral communication, managerial courage, thought leadership, business acumen, inclusive leadership, and ability to inspire and motivate others. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the specialty/commercial marketplace, risk assessment methodologies, insurance and underwriting processes, legal and regulatory requirements, and emerging risk service trends in the specialty commercial marketplace.
