Apprentice Operations Engineer

Job Summary
The production engineer identifies, implements, and champions engineering and continuous improvement projects that impact operational manufacturing and packaging efficiency, health and safety, and product quality.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Work as a team with production employees, maintenance, quality assurance, and other relevant stakeholders to find and implement solutions to optimize production efficiency, reduce quality, health/safety issues, and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure that projects are executed in compliance with current standards.
- Manage improvement projects in the manufacturing and packaging plant (e.g., equipment modification, introduction of tools or processes, layout/organization of production rooms).
- Contact various equipment suppliers (tablet presses, encapsulators, mixers, etc.) as needed to increase their efficiency and reliability.
- Participate in the resolution of investigations and CAPAs affecting operations.
- Initiate CC and write operational protocols to test and implement changes.
- Support operators in training and understanding the proper operational execution of technical processes and assist them in specific operations and manipulations (e.g., reducing powder exposure, safety concepts, etc.).
- Identify and implement process modifications to optimize manufacturing times and room utilization.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automated production, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Registered with the Quebec Order of Engineers.
- PMP certification is an asset.
5 to 10 years of experience in a similar position in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food industry.
- Knowledge of GMP in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Bilingual in English/French (spoken and written) as the incumbent will work with suppliers and clients located outside of the province of Quebec.
- Ability to write and interpret technical documents.
- Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Continuous process improvement approach.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ease of interaction and excellent communication skills.
- Good team player.
- Autonomy.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Green Belt Lean Six Sigma certification would be an asset.
Bachelor or better in Engineering or related field.
PreferredBachelor or better in Génie chimique - Chemical Engineering or related field.
Bachelor or better in Génie industriel - Industrial Engineering or related field.
ExperienceRequired5 years:5 to 10 years of experience in a similar position in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food industry.
