The Total Fund Management Technology team at CPPIB supports and enhances the enterprise-level investment structure and processes for managing the Total Portfolio, ensuring seamless operation and continuous improvement to achieve CPPIB's investment strategy and long-term objectives. We collaborate with various departments to integrate and optimize investment processes, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, including cloud-native applications that support top-of-house portfolio management investment decisions and fund management.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will design, build, test and support value-add technology solutions and products. You will also work in close partnership with business and technology teams and will acquire sufficient understanding of business and technology to apply critical thought to business and technology requests.

  • Design, build, test and support medium complexity technology solutions or enhancements with independence, to enable business capabilities, in an Agile environment that includes business and T&D partner teams.
  • Apply advanced understanding of engineering best practices and drive continuous improvement across the team through coaching and influencing.
  • Demonstrate a sufficient understanding of the technical landscape and the business capabilities it supports to apply critical thought to business requests.
  • Foster and enable agility and innovation through experimentation and early feedback ensuring responsiveness to evolving business needs.
  • Succinctly frame problems, engage appropriately with colleagues to think deeply about broad problems and gain buy-in on well-reasoned recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience working with various programming languages (Python, C++, Java, etc.).
  • Experience with software development concepts, including version control, testing methodologies, and agile development practices.
  • Ability to write clean, readable, and well-documented code, while paying attention to details and adhering to coding standards.
  • Experience in Python in an enterprise environment, covering the whole development life cycle.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, with hands-on use of Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Proficient in writing unit and integration tests, ensuring high code quality and reliability.

Additional Assets Include:

  • Knowledge of Capital market or Investment Management Domains.
  • Experience with web development using DASH, Angular or React.
  • Experience with terraform for Infrastructure as code and cloud provisioning.
  • Experience with BI Tools (QuickSight or Tableau).
