We are currently searching for an Assistant Chief Power Engineer to join our Bow Valley Square Team in Calgary, Alberta.

Scope:

The Assistant Chief Power Engineer is critical to the smooth operation and maintenance of our building systems and oversees a team of building operators and building service providers. The Assistant Chief Power Engineer has a strong level of knowledge when it comes to building systems and equipment and plays a key role assisting with day-to-day projects and processes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assisting with the daily operations and maintenance of all building related systems including the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  2. Coordinate external vendors for planned and emergency work.
  3. Assign and monitor maintenance activities and projects amongst building operators.
  4. Work with building operations teams to improve service delivery to tenants.
  5. Assist with managing inventory of supplies and materials while keeping adequate stock to complete all tasks.
  6. Perform and mentor building operators on preventive maintenance duties and inspections as recommended by equipment manufacturers.
  7. Recommending improvements to the preventive maintenance program on an ongoing basis by developing and maintaining effective building-specific maintenance procedures.
  8. Working to improve energy efficiency while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  9. Immediately responding to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
  10. Complying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.
  11. Ensuring management team is informed of current building operations.
  12. Assist with budget preparations, including vendor proposals, analysis of expenses and compilation of materials for management.
  13. Schedule, track and report to Chief Power Engineer required safety training for building operators.
  14. Complying with uniform dress code while working on the property and while visiting the property.
  15. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of five years related experience and/or trade school training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. A valid “Universal” level certification for CFC and HFC based refrigerants (EPA Section 608); to service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ozone depleting refrigerants to the atmosphere or any similar combination of education and experience.
  3. Further appropriate license/permit for trade is a plus, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License, City Licenses, Operators License, Steam Engineers License, etc.
  4. Job may necessitate passing a government clearance for specific agency that is necessary component of job functions.
  5. Basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel & Word, and knowledge of CMMS software.
  6. Experience in operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
  7. Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations.
  8. Strong communication skills (both oral and written); organization skills; technical proficiency; problem solving and decision-making skills; and interpersonal skills.
Working Environment And Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technology such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments). May require shift work and/or on call duties.

Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices. Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
