The Team
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role
GBME is searching for a Technical Product Manager / Technical Analyst with a strong product and delivery mindset to bridge the gap between user experience and product management. This role will involve liaising between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring that solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently, and with high quality for various projects within GBME.
The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. The Technical Analyst / Product Manager will be responsible for technology product planning and technology product adoption. This includes managing the technology product throughout the Product Lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and user requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering to deliver technology products that drive business value.
Responsibilities
- Engages with engineering and architecture teams to gather and prioritize product features.
- Defines the technology product strategy and roadmap.
- Develops the core positioning and messaging for the technology product.
- Organizes and leads product demos to engineering teams.
- Manages deliverables according to set timelines, ensuring consistent progress toward project goals.
- Applies a deep understanding of business functions to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepares accurate and comprehensive business specifications and requirements documentation to support development and project efforts.
- Develops and delivers Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as needed.
- Builds strong relationships and communicates effectively with colleagues across global regions.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience working within agile/scrum product management frameworks.
- 4+ years of experience managing deliverables on a timeline.
- 4+ years of experience gathering technical user requirements and translating them into product roadmaps.
- 4+ years of experience creating both technical user-facing documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in measuring product success.
- Proven ability to work across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
Preferred Qualities
- Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and gain expertise in new technologies while executing tasks (be prepared to provide real examples during the interview).
- Practical experience in capital markets.
- Familiarity with platform engineering concepts is a plus but not required.
- Experience creating presentations for leadership to communicate progress and gain support for future developments.
- Experience in any of the following areas: PL/SQL, SQL Loader, UNIX Tools, Bash, Perl, Python, Java, XML, and HTML is an asset.
